Abstract

Concrete 3D printing technology is developing very dynamically and is increasingly finding practical application. However, the integration of load-bearing reinforcement continues to pose a challenge. This article presents three new methods for the production of reinforced concrete solid walls based on the CONPrint3D technology developed by the authors. In detail, these are: 1) the layer-by-layer overprinting of reinforcement meshes that are suspended in front of a printed core wall, 2) the lateral additive filling of a reinforcement cage and 3) the fully automated construction of a reinforcement structure with immediate subsequent layer-by-layer encasing by extruded concrete. In addition to the current state of research and the concrete technology challenges, mechanical engineering development approaches and the calculative evaluation of the new methods in comparison with established construction methods will be presented.
