Abstract
This paper reviews the technologies of 3D-printed concrete and its products in the research field of Civil Engineering. That includes low or high-rise building constructions, bridges and composite cement-paste materials with advanced mechanical properties simultaneously described as low-weight structures. Initially, the technologies will be categorised based on the deposition 3D printing mechanism of the building material in paste form, with particular emphasis on the nozzle design and the type of positioning system used. Then the process of 3D printing through design and manufacturing methodologies will be discussed, emphasising issues related to design for concrete-type 3D printing. The most critical issues related to the material properties of concrete 3D printing, as well as the key process parameters, will also be addressed. Finally, the economic, energy and environmental benefits will be communicated.
