Abstract
"We like to look into the future so much because we would like to guide the uncertain things that move back and forth in it to our favor through silent wishes." This beautiful sentence can be read by anyone who delves into "Ottilien's Diary" in "Die Wahlverwandtschaften". Johann Wolfgang von Goethe put it into the lady's mouth - or dictated it into her pen - and it is a sentence that can provide valuable insights. One insight is that the future has long since begun! And concepts of the future from the past - such as robotics and artificial intelligence - have long since ceased to be abstract terms that primarily occupy Hollywood and science fiction writers. These new technologies have been increasingly finding their way into our lives in recent years. But what does robotics mean for construction? How can we use artificial intelligence for our construction processes and what kind of collaboration will we need in the future? What do megatrends such as climate change and the energy transition mean for what we build and how we build? In the German Concrete and Construction Technology Association (DBV), we want to bring people and ideas together through more and joint research on these questions and topics and develop and update our vision. We call this vision "The construction factory of the future"! Under this heading, we want to research new construction technologies and also develop answers to questions such as: How does it actually work, automated construction with concrete? - Or: How can we use artificial intelligence and findings from bionics to our advantage? - And: How do we deal with the existing built environment and what impact will the energy transition have on concrete construction? Other questions could be: How do we design processes in the construction industry so that we are better in the digitalized world than we currently are, and so that we can close the productivity gap with other industries? How can we get people to share our vision and implement it together with us, and how can we make the change that construction brings to people's lives a positive experience? Do you have answers to one or more of these questions? Or would you like to work with us on the answers? - Then I cordially invite you to join us: Join the DBV and share your vision of the future with us!
